Speed Palette The Speed Palette is shown below.   • The top slider changes the speed of the active movie · setting +1.0 = standard speed, · positive settings are forward, · negative settings are reverse, · setting 0.0 = movie paused, · range = –5.0 to +5.0 times standard speed. Tip: Press command when clicking on the controller to set the active movie’s speed back to 1.0 (normal speed). Tip: Press option when clicking on the controller to set the active movie’s speed in intervals of 0.5, rather than intervals of 0.1 (under Mac OS 8 or later). Tip: If the active movie is currently stopped by setting the speed in the Speed Palette to zero, then changing the movie’s speed will cause the movie to start playing. • The wheel control is a jog control · drag the small light-grey circle to move from one frame to another, · it is useful for fine control over which frame you are interested in, · clockwise rotation increments the current frame, · anticlockwise rotation decrements the current frame. Tip: When you press the jog control, a number to the right of the control appears. This indicates how many frames you have moved from your starting position. • The bottom slider is a shuttle control · drag the small grey bar to play the movie at various speeds, · it is useful for coarse control over the movie area you are interested in, · dragging to the right increases the speed forwards, · dragging to the left increases the speed backwards. Tip: When you press the shuttle control, a number to the right of the control appears. This indicates the current speed (as a multiple of standard speed) that the movie is being played.
